January 12, 2012 – Dallas Love Field’s Terminal 2, which hosts all services and gates for Southwest Airlines, will undergo modifications of its Lobby for the opening of the new Security Checkpoint and the next phase of the Love Field Modernization Program (LFMP).
On Wednesday, January 18, the public will have access to the new Lobby area, Security Checkpoint and entrance to the current Southwest gates. The current lobby checkpoint will be closed to begin the next phase of construction. This Terminal 2 “flip” will provide the first public use of the new Airport facility.
The Southwest Airlines ticketing counter will remain in its current location; however, all electronic ticketing kiosks and the Airport information booth will be relocated to the new Lobby area.
Starting Monday, January 16, the West Tunnel, which connects the Terminal 2 Baggage Claim Hall to Parking Garage A, will be closed due to roadway construction. Passengers can continue to access Garage A from the Bag Claim Hall by exiting through the Terminal 2 main lobby doors to the ground level walkway.
Access to Garage A and B is also available by walking back through the main terminal area and taking the escalators to the East Pedestrian Bridge, which connects to the third level of the garages. However, we are advising the public that from Friday, January 20 to Monday, January 30, the East Pedestrian Bridge will be closed. Access to the garages during this time is by the ground level walkway.
Love Field is excited to begin this next phase of progress and will continue to maintain a positive travel experience for Love Field patrons. As part of our public awareness campaign, Love Field is installing signs to help direct travelers to their destinations.
The public should be aware of new signage and maps located near the Garage A elevators and throughout Terminal 2. Look for our latest creative graphics that support education of the LFMP.
As a reminder, there is no parking or waiting in front of the Terminals. Starting late January 2012, additional lane closures will begin during normal operating hours, and these policies will continue to be enforced to ensure smooth traffic flow near the terminals.
With these changes, we advise all travelers to arrive at least 90 minutes before their flight.
