On April 28, 2016, the Dallas/Fort Worth Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. honored Hensel Phelps, the LFMP construction manager, with the Buy Those That Buy Us award.
The Buy Those That Buy Us initiative was developed by the Council to provide positive recognition of its Buying Equity Partners that are committed to the utilization of MBE businesses within their supply chain.
Hensel Phelps has a proven process that outlines both the internal and external plans to accomplish far-reaching and long-term growth objectives for the M/WBE community by utilizing their Small Business Technical Assistance Program (TAP). In the past two years, more than 500 firms have benefitted from TAP, which includes tailored classes and on-the-job training.
Recently, a local MBE firm was awarded a subcontract to provide work on the Love Field Parking Garage C Project. During the enabling phase, project staff helped train and educate the MBE firm on general contractor administrative work, as well as communicated needed manpower requirements to support the project schedule. This one-on-one relationship with the MBE firm and Hensel Phelps led to additional successful procurement opportunities for the MBE firm on a much broader scope for the Parking Garage C Project.
This effective relationship between Hensel Phelps and the MBE firm allowed for future opportunities for the MBE firm. They have since been able to create a joint venture with another firm and have procured work as a Joint Venture (JV) General Contractor on another project. Hensel Phelps’ dedication to the MBE community has given firms, like this one, the knowledge and experience to grow their companies and become well-rounded contractors in their own right.
